A screenprint I produced made it into a virtual exhibition at Chichester Cathedral this autumn. Devised to reflect on the county’s resilience, the works in the exhibition were part of an arts festival, conducted in the constrained virtual world we are becoming used to inhabiting.

My print depicts a swift and a star. It was prompted by a line of verse from Edward Thomas: ‘…stretched in the harvest blue/I saw the swift’s black bow…’

A swift’s annual journey is long one guided by stars, geography and climate, touching down rarely except to nest. The swift defines our year.
