The International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD) represents and supports graphic design practice in the UK and round the world. It was founded in 1928 ‘to create and inspire interest in all forms of typographic communication’ and promote excellence in typographic education and practice.

This month the Society has elected three new Honorary Fellows, its highest award, of whom I am one. My co-laureates are Andy Altmann and Lucienne Roberts. It is quite humbling for us to be considered alongside designers such as Josef Muller-Brockmann, Wim Crowel, Alan Fletcher, Derek Birdsall, Alan Kitching and Margaret Calvert.  But an honour too.
